E-Books

My wife got me a kindle for Christmas this past year, which is probably one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. The number of books available in the e-format for free are gargantuan. However, it seems to me that many may have the same problems like I in locating these resources easily. So as I come across e-books for free legally, I’m simply going to list them here.

Formatting: I use the kindle, and so I have kindle-usage in mind in compiling this list. Some .pdf’s are helpful, but due to how the kindle formats them, they present a cumbersome reading experience. Thus, from time to time I will either reformat a book and post it, or simply note the reading difficulty with “~K” (literally, Not Kindle Friendly – it’s Old French, trust me). I will also post books I’ve made into ebooks that are otherwise freely available, but not in the kindle formating. This is the case for many great Puritan works, so the copyright issues are nonexistent. They are usually available for free on a website, but not easily found on a portable format (or if they are, there’s a needless charge for what is easily produced through 5-10 minutes of work).

Physical books I will also include notations about where to purchase physical copies of the books posted in e-format here. This is because, while I enjoy my kindle, I’m still a physical-binding devotee. At heart, I’m a bibliophile. And, to be honest, I get a little love from the book stores for linking books, so I appreciate you checking them out if you’re interested and want to help a book-hungry young family (if you know what I mean).

A note on what books I’ll post: Obviously any book list is subjective, especially a book list of free books. My aim in posting books is to encourage the life of the mind and the enjoyment of Jesus Christ through the Gospel. I’m an evangelical, Reformed Christian. I’m also a charismatic and a complimentarian. So I figure it’s just best to let you know that up front in case you get through the list, knowing of other free books that aren’t listed here. It’s not out of spite that I don’t have them listed, just simply that I either don’t know about them or don’t agree with them in one way or another.

The List: Below is the list of books, journals, meaningful tracts, etc. that I’ve come across and found valuable. At the bottom I list my bibliography for those interested in my sources. Please comment with suggestions, corrections, etc. The internet is a vast place, help me out if you find something good!
